CEBU CITY, Philippines — Recognizing the country’s most optimistic and passionate Filipinos despite life’s many challenges, the Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance, Inc., (CLIS) has launched the search for the happiest Pinoy here, where a Cebuano could be the next winner.

Jonathan Batangan, CLIS general manager, said that after starting the event last 2009 the company saw its positive impact and has decided to continue it this year.

“The search for the happiest Pinoy is our genuine campaign as we want to rekindle the age old values of optimism and resiliency among Filipinos,” said Batangan, who was also responsible in conceptualizing the contest.

This year, the company hopes to have a winner who is much closer to the public, which is why they have been visiting schools and more areas to launch the program.

The search first winner was Winston Maximo, a corporate executive who has ankylosing spondylitis, a rare disease, osteoporosis, asthma and uveitis.

Despite his condition Maximo continues to have a positive outlook in life, as witnessed by his family, friends and employees.

Meanwhile, Batangan encouraged those who know someone who has a constant happy face, optimistic outlook, a proven ability to rise above life’s challenges to nominate them for the contest, which has received numerous recognitions locally and internationally.

Nominees must be of legal age and a Filipino citizen. Deadline of entries will is June 2012.

This year’s winner will receive P250,000.
