Everything that Glitters: Cebuana Lhuillier’s Pawning Service and Appraisal

Cebuana Lhuillier has always been at the forefront of every Filipino’s financial needs. Whenever someone needs cash, Cebuana Lhuillier is here to help. Of course, they’ve been around for decades, and their business has evolved in many ways, offering more services as the years went by, so is it any wonder why they are one of the most recognizable brands in the Philippines? The thing you should know about Cebuana Lhuillier is that, in spite of their many offered services, they haven’t forgotten their roots – Pawning. While other brands started out strong, faltering along the way due to the loss of their own business identity, Cebuana Lhuillier avoided this pitfall by playing to their strengths, maintaining their pawning service, in large part due to the demands of the people. People will always have to reach out to acquire financial help, the very same people have a few jewelries and heirlooms that they can pawn off for a reasonable amount, and those very same people are satisfied with the outcome, thus, we have a longstanding name that is the staple of every Filipino. It doesn’t matter if you were to ask a children or an adult if they recognize the name Cebuana Lhuillier, they will always be familiar with it.

A brief history of its humble beginnings and its current business goal

Cebuana Lhuillier was established in 1988 by the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies (PJLGC). Not limited by their main business of pawning, they have since branched out into many financial services such as remittance, microinsurance, micro savings, and business to business micro loan solutions. There used to be a time in which all of these transactions were done in person, with the client or customer needing to be in line at their nearest branch to undergo the process, but Cebuana Lhuillier evolved their business and services, and as of this writing, incorporates their eCebuana App to cater to our fellow Filipinos who do not have time to stand in line. Most, if not some of their offered services can now be accomplished with just a few clicks on their smartphones. Now, in spite of all these changes, Cebuana Lhuillier’s mantra of serving the Filipino people hasn’t changed. It has and still is about serving the Filipino people, anytime, anywhere, and the fact that there are over 2,200 branches all around the Philippines says so much about their goal to reach out to every Filipino who are in need of their services.

Of course, the fact that Cebuana Lhuillier, being established and handled by the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies (PJLGC) while achieving their current business goals wouldn’t be much of a surprise. PJLGC attributes their dominance in the industry towards their habitual innovation, to their robust network of local and international partners, and to their commitment to nurture their ever-growing list of growing clientele. This says so much about their culture, as they always aim to evolve their business and to achieve what other companies may have not achieved before. In due time, Cebuana Lhuillier’s parent company also ventured into other industries such as retail, hotel and restaurant management, IT, sports management, and real estate, so is it any wonder that Cebuana Lhuillier itself can relate to the needs of the average Filipino? They have a certain level of consciousness with regards to the demands of the people, and they have played their part in providing just that.

Playing to their strengths

Cebuana Lhuillier, in spite of the fact that they have branched out into many other services, haven’t really forgotten their main course of financial service. You see, pawning has always been etched with the name Cebuana Lhuillier. Try this out, ask anyone what they think about the name, and they will straight up tell you that it is a pawnshop. Of course, that’s just natural, as it is indeed the main identity of Cebuana Lhuillier, and that is one of the main reasons why they’ve been a success throughout the years. They haven’t forgotten where they came from, and neither have they forgotten their main goal of assisting the Filipino people with their financial needs. Any company or industry that stays true to its roots had so far shown a powerful resilience throughout the many challenges brought about by the ever-changing climate of the economy. Many have failed, many have run out of business, and many just gave up, but not Cebuana Lhuillier. They’ve been alive for many decades, and they will continue to flourish as the years go by.

What is the secret to their success?

Cebuana Lhuillier’s Pawning service, being at the forefront of their other offered services has definitely made its mark within the Philippine society. But that is made more obvious by how the Filipino people trust their business practices. You see, while others may have taken the route of charging their services too high or cheating their customers out of their money for their own gain, Cebuana Lhuillier took the higher ground and continued to serve the Filipino people with nothing but honesty and exemplary service in mind. You may ask, “How do they even do that?” Well, look no further than their current appraisal in pawning. Cebuana Lhuillier actually offers a 30% higher appraisal on gold items. Just imagine that. Not 10, not 15, not even 20 or 25, but a definite 30%. You would not be able to find a more honest and a more customer-friendly deal than that. Of course, as the customer, it is your responsibility to ensure that the item/s that you’re going to pawn off are in great condition, and in doing so, you may get a good appraisal on those very items. And as we’ve mentioned, much better if it’s made of gold due to the higher appraisal. No cracks, no dents, no strange markings other than the intended ornaments on your jewelries.

So with all of that being said, you can never go wrong with Cebuana Lhuillier’s Pawning Service. They lead the pawning industry by offering only the safest and the highest appraisal rate in the industry in its more than 2,500 branches nationwide.
