Introduction

Cashless transactions continue to rise in popularity in the Philippines. Consequently, Filipinos are growing reliant on mobile wallets, which is evident in how GCash-based payments permeate transactions from small sari-sari stores to leading department stores. The e-wallet’s widespread use eventually led to Cebuana Lhuillier partnering with GCash to make both services available to more Filipinos. Thanks to this partnership, you can enjoy swift transactions, including GCash cash-ins, which you can complete in any Cebuana Lhuillier branch nationwide.

That said, why opt for GCash to pay and choose Cebuana Lhuillier to fund your digital wallet? Read the rest of this article to learn more.

Why Use GCash As Your E-Wallet?

Gone are the days when contactless transactions were limited to credit and debit card holders, thanks to the rise of digital wallets in the Philippines. In addition to being convenient, e-wallets are inclusive because you can use them even if you are unbanked or underserved. GCash, one of the most popular mobile wallets in the country, dominates the Filipino digital payment landscape for the following reasons:

Accessibility

GCash provides a highly accessible mobile payment solution. To open an e-wallet, you need only a mobile number, a valid ID, and an app-compatible phone. While straightforward, the process is also secure, as you must register your biometric information in addition to your identification documents, helping prevent fraud and identity theft.

Availability

Many shops, including small physical and online stores, accept GCash payments. When offering a digital payment method, these businesses are likely to allow GCash but not credit or debit cards. This availability benefits you in that you can still pay even without cash or cards. If you prefer contactless transactions instead of carrying cash everywhere, you will also find GCash’s ubiquity convenient.

Convenience

GCash mobile wallets are packed with features that make financial transactions simple and convenient. Once you complete your GCash cash-ins via Cebuana, you can use your funds to pay bills, subscriptions, insurance, and more within the app. Meanwhile, online transfers to other GCash users are swift and free of charge.

Ease of Use

GCash has a user-friendly interface. To send money to other e-wallet users, you only need to input their mobile numbers or scan their QR codes, confirm the details, and then you are done. GCash also offers insurance coverage for transactions, particularly if you accidentally send your funds to the wrong person. This scenario usually happens when the details are mistyped or a recipient is misrepresented.

How To Complete GCash Cash-Ins via Cebuana Lhuillier

GCash transactions via the eCebuana app are possible with Instapay. Below are detailed guides to cashing in on-site and online:

  • Request a cash-in form.
  • Complete the required details and ensure all information is accurate.
  • Present the form and one valid ID to the branch personnel.
  • Check with your GCash recipient (or your GCash account if you cashed in the funds into your e-wallet) to ensure the funds were successfully transferred.

You can also confirm whether you are following the correct steps by checking the instructions on your GCash mobile app. Tap the “Cash In” option, look for “Global Banks and Partners,” and select Cebuana Lhuillier under “Remittance Partners.”

Over-the-counter GCash cash-ins via Cebuana Lhuillier are free of GCash Service Fee for up to ₱15,000 monthly. For example:

  • You will not pay a GCash service fee if you cash in the full ₱8,000 in a single transaction within the month.
  • You will not pay a GCash service fee if you cash in ₱5,000 for the first time in a particular month and another ₱3,000 in the same month.

If you exceed the ₱15,000 monthly limit, you are required to pay a rate of 2% of the funds for over-the-counter GCash service fee for cash-ins via Cebuana Lhuillier. For instance:

  • You do not need to pay the GCash service fee if you are cashing in ₱7,000 for the first time in a specific month. However, if you intend to cash in ₱9,000 within the same period, you will pay an additional ₱18 to complete your second transaction.

For a smooth transaction, ensure that your recipient claims to have received your Cebuana Padala in their GCash account. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to contact Cebuana or GCash’s customer service.
