Introduction

Access to financial services is now easier thanks to institutions that champion financial inclusion in the Philippines, like Cebuana Lhuillier. Known primarily for its pawnshops, Cebuana has long increased its microfinance options to reach more Filipinos, branching out to remittances, microloans, and banking. In the banking sector, the institution is supporting Filipinos with limited means to save money through its highly accessible Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank accounts.

Cebuana is also known for its Pera Padala service, leveraging its 3,500+ branches nationwide to make sending money as hassle-free as possible, especially for Filipinos located in places with limited bank access or those in remote areas. Today, the company made sending cash much easier by rolling out its Remit to Account service. This service allows Cebuana clients to perform bank transfers, streamlining the process by directly sending their cash to the recipient’s bank account.

Do you want to learn more about this service and other means to make sending money more convenient? Read this article for the details.

Can I Transfer Money From a Cebuana Branch to a Bank Account?

Thanks to the Remit to Account service, customers visiting a Cebuana branch can easily and conveniently complete bank transfers. This service applies to domestic money transfers, and the process is similar to depositing cash in a bank account.

Parallel to this, the pawnshop allows bank transfers to Cebuana bank accounts, which is made possible with the institution’s rural bank offerings. One of the savings accounts available is Micro Savings, which allows users to open an account for as little as P50 on an initial deposit. The account also requires only one valid ID and a 24K Cebuana card, making it a fast way to encourage people to start saving. By enabling your recipients to open a bank account through Micro Savings, you can send money much more easily, too.

How Can I Send Money From a Cebuana Branch to a Bank Account?

There are several ways to send your money to a bank account if you’re transacting from a Cebuana Lhuillier branch. These options include the Remit to Account service, the eCebuana App’s Pera Padala, or e-wallet transfer methods. Below are the details for each option:

Via the Remit To Account Service

The Remit to Account service allows Cebuana Lhuillier clients to transfer money directly to bank accounts, which was first rolled out with the pawnshop partnering with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI). This direct remittance feature makes sending money more convenient for both senders and recipients in the following ways:

Convenience and Accessibility

Cebuana has over 3,500 branches nationwide, several of which are located in places where banks are far away or nonexistent. This means that the sender can still remit their cash even if no banks are nearby or if they themselves aren’t bank account holders. The service makes it simpler to pay obligations such as tuition fees or direct payments, or fund a loved one’s accounts.

Easier Access to Funds

In the past, cash recipients in Cebuana branches would claim the physical cash and then deposit it into their bank accounts. The Remit to Account feature eliminates the need for the recipient to be present on-site to receive funds. This feature is advantageous when money is needed immediately. For instance, those who need to settle bills that are due can wait for the cash in their bank accounts and pay right away.

Via the eCebuana App

Another easy and swift way to transfer money from Cebuana to a bank account is through the eCebuana App. This method does away with visiting a branch, making it a better alternative when you’re too busy to perform on-site transactions. This mobile application allows two ways of sending money to account holders, namely:

Micro Savings Transfer

The eCebuana App is connected to Cebuana’s Micro Savings account, a bank account you can apply for at the Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank. The app provides you access to your Micro Savings fund, allowing for quick balance checks and, of course, instant transfers to other Micro Savings account holders. You don’t also have to worry about extra expenses as direct transfers from one Micro Savings account to another cost zero fees.

Instapay Transfer

The eCebuana App also enables bank transfers via Instapay. If you have funds from your Micro Savings account, you can access that through the app and transfer the money to other banks via the Instapay service. Cebuana listed the banks that you can transfer to using Instapay for easier reference.

Via E-Wallet Transfers

You can still perform convenient money transfers even if your recipient doesn’t have a bank account yet and only uses e-wallets for their transactions. Below are on-site options that you can consider:

GCash Transactions

Aside from transferring to bank accounts, you can also perform GCash cash-ins by visiting a Cebuana Lhuillier branch. Note that you can transact the cash-in to fund your own and others’ GCash accounts. This option provides convenience, as GCash is often used as an accepted payment channel for tuition fees, loans, and utility bills.

Similarly, a GCash cash-out transaction at a Cebuana Lhuillier branch is possible. If your receiver uses the e-wallet and needs physical money, they can visit a branch, fill out a form, and wait for the teller to hand them their cash.

Maya Transactions

Cash-ins with Maya via transacting in a Cebuana Lhuillier branch require you to set up the transaction from your Maya app. Afterward, it’s just as easy as cashing in via other e-wallet options.

Meanwhile, one option for Maya cash-outs via Cebuana Lhuillier is to transfer funds from your e-wallet to your Cebuana Savings account and withdraw them via ATM.

Things To Consider When Using the Remit To Account Service

The Remit to Account service allows convenience as you can send money directly to bank accounts upon your visit to a branch or via the eCebuana App. That said, you should consider the following factors for smooth, quick transactions:

Transfer Fees

Remit to Account services come with transfer fees. The branch-to-bank account method requires the following additional payments:

  • Remit to BPI Accounts: ₱100
  • Remit to Metrobank Accounts: ₱90
  • Remit to Micro Savings Accounts: ₱70

Transaction Limits

Like other bank transactions, Remit to Account transactions have imposed limits:

  • Remit to BPI Accounts: ₱50,000
  • Remit to Metrobank Accounts: ₱50,000
  • Remit to Micro Savings Accounts: ₱50,000

Bank Partners

Cebuana Lhuillier’s current Remit to Account partners are divided into three categories:

  • RTA via Direct Deposit
  • RTA via Instapay
  • RTA via Micro Savings

The RTA via direct deposit option is inclusive in that it allows you to send money from any location with a Cebuana branch. However, direct deposits are only possible if you send them to BPI, Metro Bank, or Micro Savings accounts.

Visit a Cebuana Branch To Enjoy Convenient Money Transfer Services!

Sending money to sustain your loved ones or pay billers via their bank accounts usually requires that you’re a bank account holder yourself. Fortunately, unbanked Filipinos can still enjoy the convenience of bank transfers with Cebuana Lhuillier’s Remit to Account services. Cebuana has over 3,500 branches nationwide, so it’s likely that you can access the service even in remote locations.

In addition to domestic remittances via RTA, Cebuana Lhuillier promotes financial inclusion through the Pera Padala (the classic Cebuana to Cebuana branch money transfer) and international money transfers. These services enable more Filipinos to move and access funds more quickly and efficiently. They also make transactions more convenient for senders and recipients, contributing to a financially confident populace.
