Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI) recently awarded medals and certificates to almost 450 Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) test passers from its 15 Community Learning Centers (CLCs) nationwide.
Among the recipients is top one passer Carina Cortes, a 24-year old PWD learner in Cubao Elementary School who enrolled in ALS after failing to finish high school in formal school. She has suffered from spinal muscular atrophy since birth yet received a perfect score in the A&E exam.
“Masaya po ako dahil akala ko, hindi ko matatapos ‘yung high school pero ngayon ay natapos ko na. Mapalad ako dahil may ALS at mabubuting puso na handang sumuporta para ang tulad namin ay makatapos,” said Cortes during the awarding ceremony attended by Area 103, CLFI Executive Trustee Atty. Cesar R. Vidal, and school principal Dr. Thelma Co.
Similar ceremonies were conducted by respective area coordinators in CLCs in: ALS SPED CLC in Antipolo, Nagpayong Elementary School ALS CLC in Pasig, Andres Soriano Memorial Elementary School ALS CLC in Palawan, Lubuagan District Learning Center in Kalinga, La Trinidad Learning Center in Benguet, San Manuel High School ALS CLC in Tarlac, and Pagsanjan Mobile Library in Laguna.
Also included in the list are Rosario Elementary School ALS CLC in Cavite, ALS Demo Center in Tacloban, the graduation ceremonies of which was attended by CLFI’s Program Manager-OIC Kristina ‘Pebbles’ Muñiz, Ormoc District I ALS Center in Leyte, Cebuana Lhuillier Feeding Center ALS CLC in Bais City, Dadiangas West Learning Center in General Santos City, and La Filipina National High School ALS CLC in Davao del Norte.
A graduation ceremony in Malay Elementary School ALS CLC in Aklan is also being organized.
