June 22, 2012—Through the efforts of PJ Lhuillier Foundation Incorporated (PJLFI),
the UP Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) were given more reasons to sing. The UPSA, with
its founder and conductor Ed Manguiat, officially received a total of P500,000
financial assistance for their upcoming 2012 European Tour and Competitions.
As an act of gratitude, the UPSA serenaded everyone present during the check
turnover, especially Amb. Philippe Lhuillier and Mrs. Edna Diago Lhuillier who
were also celebrating their 44th Wedding Anniversary on that same day.
Inspired by the talent and passion of the Singing Ambassadors, Amb. Philippe
decided to add another P300,000 to the initial donation, making the total
donation P800,000.
The UP Singing Ambassadors is now on their 30th year sharing music and
bringing honor to Filipinos in both local and international scenes. They were
recognized as ALIW Awards’ 2002 and 2010 Best Choral Group, won the Grand Prize
in the 2001 International Guido d’Arezzo Polyphonic Contest in Italy, and brought
home top prizes in the 2008 Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Hungary.
