CEBU CITY, Philippines – Twenty-four VIP delegates from various Asian countries who attended the 1st Mutual Exchange Forum on Inclusive Insurance (MEFIN) in Shangri-La Mactan visited Cebuana Lhuillier Cebu Regional office to get immersion on Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions’ (CLIS) best practices on May 16.
During the visit, CLIS GM Jonathan Batangan highlighted CLIS’ initiatives such as Alagang Cebuana Plus, Cebuana CTPL, HapiPinoy Text Insure, Barangay Cebuana, Microinsurance on Wheels, 24-Hour Claims Processing, “Kumustahan”, “Balik Tanaw” projects, the Search for the Happiest Pinoy, among others, which were commended and received warmly by the delegates.
Expressing his gratitude in supporting the microinsurance (MI) advocacy was GIZ Regional Director for the Philippines and the Pacific, Dr Antonis Malagardis who also congratulated CLIS on its success and showed his support to all of its on-going MI projects. Moreover, Philippine Insurance Commissioner Emmanuel Dooc lauded Cebuana Lhuillier’s aggressive move to innovate its trade from pawning to insurance.
MEFIN was organized by GIZ-Germany and the Regulatory Framework Promotion for the Pro-poor Insurance Markets in Asia (RFPI ASIA) participated in by Insurance Regulators and Finance Ministers/Advisors from selected Asian countries namely Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The visit to the Cebu Regional Office was made possible by the IMCG, PR and Region 4A personnel.
