Addressing Immediate Needs and Long Term Revitalization
DALLAS, TX–Nov. 14, 2013– MoneyGram (NASDAQ:MGI), a leading global money transfer and payment services company, announces a series of measures to help people in the Philippines impacted by the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, also referred to as Typhoon Yolanda.
MoneyGram is making a $50,000 donation to Doctors Without Borders to support immediate relief efforts. Currently, Doctors Without Borders has more than 100 people on the ground in the Philippines addressing urgent and immediate medical needs. Cargo planes have started delivering 329 tons of medical and humanitarian relief supplies such as medical and hygiene kits, tetanus vaccines, tents, and water. Operations are currently based in Cebu, but teams will soon arrive in the hardest hit areas, including Tacloban.

MoneyGram wants to make it easy and convenient for people in the United States to help Filipinos affected by the typhoon. From now until November 30, 2013, MoneyGram is waiving the transaction fee for customers in the United States who want to donate to the American Red Cross Philippines relief effort online and at a MoneyGram location using the MoneyGram ExpressPayment® service.
Donations can be made at www.MoneyGram.com or any of the 38,000 MoneyGram ExpressPayment agent locations in the U.S. All donations should be submitted to “Red Cross Philippines” under receive code 2540 to waive the transaction fee. Any dollar amount will be accepted up to a maximum of $249.99 per transaction.
MoneyGram will also waive transaction fees for international top-up transactions. This allows customers in the United States a more cost efficient method to add minutes to prepaid phones in the Philippines and stay connected with friends and family in the region.
Top-up transaction fee waivers are in place through November 30, 2013. They apply to the following mobile phone carriers:

MoneyGram is also making an extended commitment to help the region recover. Through the MoneyGram Foundation, MoneyGram will pledge funds to help to rebuild educational facilities destroyed by the storm as well as provide 25,000 books for affected schools through a grant to the Asia Foundation.
