GOVERNOR JJ Romualdo’s hospitality was aptly rewarded in the leg opener of the 2015 Cebuana Lhuillier age-group tennis summer events held recently in Camiguin island.
This came after homegrown pride George Gogo of Mambajao, Camiguin stamped his class in the singles competition crowded by the fancied bets from Cagayan de Oro who are members of the Philippine Tennis Academy-Cagayan de Oro City Satellite Training Center.
In fact, the little-known Gogo won the premier boys 18-under title at the expense of Cebu-based campaigner Francis Hidalgo.
“Indeed, Gogo did a great job for the host province. It was also an honor for Governor Romualdo who never missed the chance providing fellowship dinner to Camiguin leg participants every year,” organizer and ITF-licensed referee Mario Inguito Craiz told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Also favored to prevail in the other age categories are the Cagayan de Oro and Lanao Norte netters spearheaded by Janelle Carmela Llavore and last year’s winningest 10-under campaigner Brent Signmond Cortes.
The Palaro-bound Llavore, playing out of Corpus Christi School, is fresh from a twin-title finish in the Globe 17th Head Graphene XT Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit concluded over the weekend at the Nazareth Lawn Tennis Club in Cagayan de Oro.
