The catch phrase “The Filipino spirit is waterproof” is doing the rounds on social media these days due to the havoc Super Typhoon Yolanda has caused in the Visayas. Cebuana Lhuillier, spearheaded by its President and CEO Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, has responded to the call for cash or in-kind donations to put Leyte and other provinces back on their feet.
With a total of P1,850,000 cash donations to various foundations and organizations managing relief operations on the ground, Cebuana Lhuillier joins the world in helping those most affected by Yolanda. Cebuana Lhuillier employees also donated P50,000-worth of medicines, toiletries and ready-to-eat food.
Also through the efforts of Cebuana Lhuillier president and CEO, a team of medical doctors from the US are in Visayas right now to conduct medical missions. The team, who arrived in Manila on November 18, brought medical supplies and imported a vital and unique oral rehydration solution developed at Stanford and the Mayo Clinic in the United States.
Meanwhile, Cebuana Lhuillier’s Head of Operations Miko Jimenez was in Tacloban City from November 11 to 14 to extend help to Cebuana Lhuillier employees who might have been affected by the disaster.
